Ridgemill Estate

Ridgemill Estate is a boutique winery and vineyard accommodation at 218 Donges Road in Broadwater, a short drive from Stanthorpe in the Granite Belt, and one of the more genuinely dog-friendly cellar doors in the region. Dogs are welcome on leash inside the cellar door itself, and two accommodation types take pets overnight, which decides whether this is a stopover or a whole weekend away.

The dog setup

Pets are accepted in the pet-friendly Studio Cabins, one pet each, and in the Winery Escape House, which has a fully fenced courtyard and takes up to two. There is a flat 70 dollar pet fee per stay and a 30kg weight limit, pets cannot be left unattended or go on furniture or beds, and the estate supplies a proper pet bed plus food and water bowls.

The leash rule holds everywhere on the property, because the vineyard runs alongside cattle, goats, chickens and local wildlife. This is a working farm rather than a fenced dog run, so treat the leash as non-negotiable and check the Escape House courtyard fencing yourself before relying on it.

The vibe

Ridgemill sits at around 840 metres altitude, which suits cool-climate varieties like Riesling, Shiraz and Verdelho, and it runs a Top Dog Wine Club with pet-focused extras. Tastings run 10am to 5pm daily, closing at 3pm on Sundays.

Max: livestock and wildlife sit right up against the walking paths. Keep the leash on even around the cabins, and the goats are a highlight for a well-mannered dog.

Getting there and parking

The estate is on Donges Road off the New England Highway, roughly 10 to 15 minutes from Stanthorpe, with parking on site at the cellar door and cabins.
