Mira Wines at 2213 Broke Road is a small, family-run cellar door in the centre of the Pokolbin winery strip, near Hope Estate and across from the village. It is genuinely dog-welcoming, with an outdoor terrace for tasting alongside the dog and wines made under acclaimed winemaker Gwyn Olsen.

Where the dog goes. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor terrace and are often allowed inside the tasting room too, so check on arrival. Keep yours on a lead, well-behaved and cleaned up after. Water bowls are typically available and the staff are notably good with dogs. Being a small room, calling ahead to secure a table is smart, especially on weekends.

What is there. Small-batch, premium and limited-release wines, with the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon the picks. The experience is intimate and personalised, away from the bus crowds.

Getting there. 2213 Broke Road, central in the main winery area, with on-site parking directly in front of the cellar door.

When to go. The small scale rewards a quieter weekday and a booking. A milder part of the day suits the outdoor terrace in summer, though the indoor option helps when it is hot.
