Montoro Wines

Montoro Wines is a small, family-owned vineyard on Cargo Road, five to ten minutes from central Orange, and the kind of boutique cellar door where the tasting is intimate and a well-behaved dog is a normal part of the room. Expect a personal, vine-side visit rather than a polished commercial setup.

The dog setup

Dogs on a lead are welcome to wander the grounds and outdoor areas with you, and visitors regularly report being able to bring dogs into the tasting shed too, though that comes down to staff discretion on the day and how busy it is. A resident winery dog is often about, so a calm, social dog settles in best. It is a small operation, so bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one.

Worth knowing

Shiraz is the focus, including the less common white shiraz and sparkling shiraz, poured in an unhurried tasting that leans educational. Give them a ring on 0429 625 620 ahead of your visit to confirm timings and mention you are bringing a dog.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits on Cargo Road in the Orange wine region, a short drive from town on the Mount Canobolas side. On-site parking is right near the cellar door.

Close by with the dogs

Lake Canobolas is close by for on-lead walking trails around the water, and the neighbouring cellar doors take dogs too: Cargo Road Wines on the same road, De Salis Wines and Philip Shaw Wines.
