Lobethal Road - Winery

Lobethal Road Wines sits at 2254 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Mount Torrens, roughly 40 minutes from Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills. It is a family-run eco-vineyard at the base of Mount Torrens, and for dog owners the key detail is the outdoor courtyard garden: a shaded, off-the-verandah space with vineyard views where dogs are genuinely welcome.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the courtyard garden and lawn areas only, on a lead at all times, and they are excluded from the indoor mudbrick cellar door. Fresh drinking water is provided in the garden and shade includes umbrellas in the warmer months. There are no pet fees. Because your access is outdoors, plan the visit around the weather and pick a garden table before the tasting starts.

The vibe

Cool-climate, single-vineyard wines are the draw here: Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, poured from a rustic mudbrick cellar door among the vines. A seasonal lunch menu runs Thursday to Monday featuring local produce, and the cheese platters are particularly well regarded early and late in the week. It is also a known stop for cyclists riding the Amy Gillett Pathway, so weekends bring a mix of riders, families and dog walkers.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits on Onkaparinga Valley Road between Lobethal and Mount Torrens, with on-site parking available. Hours are Thursday to Monday, 11am to 5pm, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
