Golding Wines

Golding Wines is a family-owned winery on the outskirts of Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills, built around a restored sandstone barn and terraced gardens, and pouring cool-climate wines with the Lenswood appellation at its centre. Dogs are welcome across the outdoor areas.

The dog setup

Dogs can join you in the terraced gardens, courtyard and covered porch seating, with water bowls generally provided, but they are not allowed inside the tasting room or the Ginkgo Restaurant. Keep them on lead at all times; the site hosts weddings and events and stays busy through weekends.

One clear exception: the Hamper in the Hills experience does not allow dogs, so book a standard tasting or outdoor table if you are bringing yours.

Pepsi: order a cheese platter, take the shaded terrace end, and the dog gets pats from half the tables around you.

The vibe

The tasting list leans on cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and the Ginkgo Restaurant serves seasonal, locally sourced food with vineyard views from the terraces. Doors open from 11am daily, running to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 5pm Friday through Sunday.

Getting there and parking

The winery is at 52 Western Branch Road, Lobethal, about 40 to 50 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, with on-site parking up the driveway to the barn.

Tilbrook Estate is another dog-friendly cellar door on the same side of Lobethal, and Emma and Ivy in town covers breakfast or coffee beforehand. If you are weaving a wine trail, ARTWINE at Woodside adds a modern tasting room with outdoor seating to the loop.
