Phaedrus Estate

Phaedrus Estate is a boutique, family-run cellar door on Mornington-Tyabb Road in Moorooduc, pouring cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Roussanne from its own vines. It is a quiet, unpretentious sort of place, and a genuinely easy one to bring the dog: leashed dogs are welcome across the lawn and outdoor grounds whenever the cellar door is open.

The dog setup

Dogs on a lead are welcome outside, on the lawn and around the cellar door, but stay out of the indoor tasting area. Seating sits outdoors near the vines and on the deck, so your dog is part of the visit rather than tied off to one side. The setup is rustic, so bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one being there.

The vibe

Tastings are informal and personal, often run by the owners themselves, with local cheese platters on offer. Group sizes are capped at around six, which keeps the whole experience calm, and that calm carries over for dogs. It is an outdoor-only welcome for canines, so a fine weekend is the right time to go. The cellar door opens Saturdays and Sundays, 11am to 5pm, including some public holiday long weekends; no bookings are needed, but confirm hours before a long drive.
