Churchview Estate

Churchview Estate is a family-run vineyard on Gale Road in the heart of Margaret River wine country, and dogs are part of the visit. Leashed dogs are welcome across the gardens and outdoor areas, and the team will happily set your tasting up outside so nobody gets left in the car.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on lead in the grounds and public outdoor spaces. The historic cottage tasting room is indoors and off limits to pets, but staff bring the tasting to you on the lawn instead, with vineyard views as the backdrop. Water bowls are usually out.

Tastings run Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, closed Sundays. The list leans into rare and unusual varieties alongside the classics, and local charcuterie, cheeses and crackers are available if you want something to share. The estate also lists a camping site through Hipcamp, which is a no-pets listing, so confirm directly with the cellar door before planning an overnight stay with your dog.

The vibe

Relaxed and personal rather than polished. It is the kind of cellar door where the person pouring often knows the wines back to front and the pace stays slow. Weekday mornings are the quietest window for a lawn tasting with a dog at your feet.

Getting there and parking

The estate sits at 8 Gale Road, Metricup, with on-site parking. One quirk worth respecting: there is a strict no-driving-around-the-property rule to protect the vines, so park at the entrance and walk in.

While you're out there

Metricup Road is lined with cellar doors that take a similar view on dogs. Passel Estate welcomes leashed dogs on its outdoor lawn and deck, Ad Hoc by Cherubino is in the same suburb, and House of Cards Wine is a short drive south.
