Molly Morgan Wines is a small cellar door on Talga Road in the heart of Lovedale, with vineyard views out to the Brokenback Range. It is a relaxed, genuinely pet-friendly spot, and there is usually a resident dog, Zen, holding court.

Molly Morgan also has villa accommodation on site, but confirm the pet policy for the villas directly before booking, since dog access to the cellar door does not guarantee dogs in the rooms.

Getting there and parking. Find it at 53 Talga Road, Lovedale, an easy drive off the Hunter Expressway with on-site parking. There is no practical public transport, so plan a driver.

Nearby with the dogs. Tatler Wines is a short drive and has a large welcoming lawn for dogs, and the wider Lovedale strip is full of dog-friendly cellar doors, so it is easy to build a day around this one.

When to go. Open Thursday to Sunday, with Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment, so check ahead midweek. A quieter weekday visit suits a nervous dog better than a busy Saturday.
