Allandale Winery

Getting there and parking. The cellar door is on Lovedale Road, an easy run off the Hunter Expressway. On-site parking is a short walk from the entrance. There is no useful public transport out here, so you will be driving, which means sorting a designated driver if the whole group is tasting.

Nearby with the dogs. Lovedale is thick with dog-friendly cellar doors. Stomp! Wines on Wilderness Road does dog-friendly wine and cheese, and Saltire Estate nearby also welcomes leashed dogs, so you can string together a full day.

When to go. A cooler morning suits dogs best, before the terrace heats up and the weekend tasting crowd builds. Good for social dogs who are relaxed around other animals.
