Petersons Winery MUDGEE

Petersons of Mudgee is a country-style cellar door on expansive grounds at 101 Black Springs Road, Eurunderee, a 10-minute drive from the Mudgee CBD. Petersons Family Wines have been making boutique wines here since 1996, and dogs are welcome on the lawns and patio, which makes it an easy, unhurried stop on a Mudgee wine day.

The dog setup

Dogs join you outdoors on the lawns and patio, and you can sit through a tasting with your dog beside you. Keep them leashed at all times and mindful of other guests and vineyard wildlife.

Outdoor water bowls and dog treats are typically on hand, though it is worth carrying your own bowl and a few backup treats, especially on warm afternoons on the open grounds.

The vibe

The estate pours multi-award-winning boutique wines, with Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon among the regulars, in a quiet rural setting away from the busier town cellar doors. The appeal is a tranquil, personal tasting rather than a big crowd.

Cellar door hours run Sunday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, with the last tasting at 3pm, and Saturday from 10am to 5pm with last tasting at 4pm. Weekday and early weekend visits are quietest with a dog along.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is on Black Springs Road at Eurunderee, reached off the Castlereagh Highway side of Mudgee, with gravel parking close by and easy, step-free access to the outdoor tasting areas.

The wider Mudgee district is easy going with dogs on leads, so you can line up other leashed-welcome cellar doors on the same loop, such as Lowe Family Wine Co on Tinja Lane or Burnbrae Wines further out.
