Burnbrae Wines

Burnbrae Wines is a family-run vineyard on Hill End Road, about ten to fifteen minutes out of Mudgee, with a relaxed country cellar door and a resident wine dog named Coco. Dogs are welcome on the lawns and outdoor seating, which makes it a good bring-a-rug, picnic-style stop rather than a formal tasting.

Some visitors report friendly dogs being allowed in the cellar door, so check with staff on the day if the weather turns. Coco tends to roam, so bring a dog that is comfortable meeting other dogs. Known for. Shiraz and sparkling are the standouts, tastings are inexpensive and unpretentious, and wood-fired pizzas and grazing platters usually run on weekends.

Getting there and parking. It is on Hill End Road, a short drive from town, with a free gravel car park on site and flat, easy access around the cellar door and picnic grounds.

Nearby with the dogs. Lowe Family Wine Co on Tinja Lane is close by and equally dog-friendly, and there are dog-welcoming cafes with outdoor seating in town on Church Street.

Burnbrae also has on-site accommodation at Braeside House and the Winemakers Cottage; confirm the pet policy directly when booking, as a dog-friendly cellar door does not always mean dog-friendly rooms.

Weekends bring the pizzas and the crowds, so a weekday visit is calmer if you want the lawns to yourselves. Good for social dogs happy to share the space with Coco.
