Burnbrae Wines

Burnbrae Wines is a family-run vineyard at 548 Hill End Road, ten to fifteen minutes out of Mudgee, with a relaxed country cellar door and a resident wine dog named Coco. Tastings run every day from 10am to 4pm at five dollars a head, and the lawns out front are the sort of place you spread a rug and stay a while.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the lawns and outdoor seating on a lead, and water bowls are usually available outside. Coco has the run of the property and likes to drop in on guests, so bring a dog that is comfortable meeting other dogs, and pack your own bowl as a backup.

If the weather pushes everyone indoors, check with staff on the day about the cellar door. Burnbrae also has two on-site cottages, Braeside House and the Winemakers Cottage, but confirm the pet policy directly when booking because a dog-friendly cellar door does not always mean dog-friendly rooms.

The vibe

This is a bring-a-rug kind of stop rather than a formal tasting room. Antipasto platters made from local produce run daily, and the Lazy Pizza Afternoon takes over every Friday to Sunday from midday, with live music on the third Sunday of each month for Tunes@Burnbrae.

Pepsi: lawns to sprawl on, a resident dog to say hello to, and pizza smells in the air. Bring a rug and settle in for the afternoon.

Getting there and parking

Burnbrae sits on Hill End Road a short drive north-west of Mudgee's town centre, with a free gravel car park on site and flat access around the cellar door and picnic grounds. Bookings are recommended for larger groups and pizza weekends.
