Many Hands is a small, family-run cellar door on the Maroondah Highway at Coldstream, making hand-crafted, small-batch wines, some still bottled under cork. It is an easy highway stop with a relaxed feel, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and vineyard areas, on a lead, not inside the cellar door building. The outdoor seating looks over the grounds and is a comfortable spot to settle while you taste. Water bowls are often provided, but bring your own to be sure.

Good to know. The wines are boutique and hand-made from local fruit, and the cork bottling is an unusual touch worth asking about. The room is intimate and welcoming rather than slick, which suits a quiet visit with a dog along.

Getting there. On-site parking sits at 255 Maroondah Hwy, directly on the main road between Coldstream and Healesville, roughly an hour from the Melbourne CBD. It is a short walk from the car park to the outdoor seating.

Nearby with the dogs. Lilydale Lake a short drive away has walking paths and an off-leash area for a proper run, and several neighbouring wineries take dogs in their outdoor areas.

Quietest on weekdays. Good as a low-key stop on a highway run, paired with a leg-stretch at Lilydale Lake.
