Stein - Mudgee Winery, Vineyard & Farm

Stein is a family-run winery, vineyard and working farm at 62 Quarry Lane in Budgee Budgee, about ten minutes from Mudgee, with a vintage motorcycle museum alongside the cellar door. Dogs are welcome through the outdoor seating and tasting areas, which makes it an easy stop on a Mudgee wine day rather than a special exception.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor tables and around the cellar door, on lead and supervised. Staff are known to be warm with visiting dogs, and the farm's own vineyard dogs are part of the welcome, so a dog who is easy with other dogs settles in best.

This is a working farm with livestock and machinery about the place, so the lead stays on and rules can tighten depending on what is happening on the property that day. Mention your dog when you book a tasting.

The vibe

The Stein family has run the property since 1976 with a regenerative approach, and the cellar door pours small-batch riesling, shiraz and fortifieds alongside cheese and charcuterie boards. The vintage motorcycle museum next door is the unexpected drawcard, and the setting looks out over the vineyard.

Getting there

Quarry Lane turns off Ulan Road on the northern side of Mudgee, and there is on-site parking with room for a car full of cellar-door hoppers. It opens daily from 10am to 4:30pm.

Max: keep the lead short near the vineyard rows and farm buildings, and confirm the day's dog rules at the cellar door before you wander the property.
