YEATES Wines is a family-run, small-batch cellar door at 138 Craigmoor Road in Eurunderee, just out of Mudgee, with a modern tasting room set right among the vines. It is also one of the most clearly dog-positive cellar doors in the region, with a published policy rather than a wing-it attitude.

The dog setup

The policy is specific: dogs are welcome every day except Saturdays and public holidays, when the cellar door is simply too busy. Dogs stay outside the tasting room, supervised and by your side, on a lead if staff ask, and owners handle the clean-up. The estate has its own resident golden retriever, so a social dog fits right in; the team suggests leaving at home any dog that is unfriendly or prone to stealing lunches.

Pack a towel. There is a dam on the property that dogs love to swim in, and a wet, muddy dog is a real possibility on a warm day.

Worth knowing

The estate's dry-grown Shiraz dates back to 1968, and the Albarino has built a name of its own, with the cellar door picking up producer and cellar door honours at the 2025 Mudgee Wine Show. Tastings are best booked ahead through the reservations page, and the cellar door typically runs Thursday to Sunday, so check days and times before setting out with the dog.

Pepsi: Thursday or Friday is the sweet spot, a quiet tasting, no crowds, and only the resident retriever to compete with.

Getting there and parking

Eurunderee sits on the hillside loop a short drive north-east of Mudgee's town centre, with on-site parking near the cellar door. The country lanes around Craigmoor Road suit a leashed leg-stretch between tastings.
