The dog setup
Dogs join you in the outdoor seating and landscaped areas, on lead throughout, as this is a working property with chickens and other farm animals about. The newly renovated tasting room is primarily an indoor space for people, so check with staff on arrival if you want your dog inside as well as out. Bring your own water bowl to be safe.
Keep the lead short around the vineyard rows and the farm animals, and mention your dog when you ring ahead to confirm a weekday visit.
The vibe
Small-batch wines, a seasonal lunch menu and warm hospitality are the recurring themes here, with moscato, muscat and pinot noir drawing particular attention, and mezze platters or baked brie covering the food side. Occasional live music and the vineyard outlook from the outdoor tables are a big part of the appeal.

Getting there
The estate sits on Ulan Road on the northern side of Mudgee, and on-site parking has room for larger vehicles. Doors open Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, closed other days, though visits outside those days can sometimes be arranged by appointment, so ring ahead.

Stein - Mudgee Winery, Vineyard & Farm is just along Quarry Lane in the same Budgee Budgee pocket, and McIntosh Estate sits further down the same Ulan Road corridor with its own resident dog. For a longer loop, Lowe Family Wine Co at Eurunderee adds an organic estate with wide-open grounds.
