Yolla Recreation Ground

Out among the rolling farm country of the north-west, the Yolla Recreation Ground on School Lane is the flat, open space in a town without formal walking tracks. It is a sports ground first, home to the Yolla Football Club rooms, but the public can use it and dogs are allowed on lead.

Lead rules

Waratah-Wynyard Council requires dogs in public spaces to be on a lead no longer than 2 metres, unless you are in a designated off-lead area. The recreation ground is not one, so the lead stays on for laps of the field.

What to expect

Underfoot is grass and gravel around the playing fields, with green pasture beyond. It is quiet and low on traffic, which makes it a calm place for a routine walk.

Mature trees and farm windbreaks around the edges give some shade, but the oval itself is open to the sun. There is free parking right off School Lane.

There is no water for dogs on site and dog bag dispensers are not a standard fixture. Bring a bowl, water and your own bags.

When to go

Check for training or game days before you head over, and keep clear of the field while sport is on. On a quiet weekday it suits dogs of any age that just need a flat stretch.
