Wyndham Vale South Reserve

Wyndham Vale South Reserve on Black Forest Road is a neighbourhood sports ground ringed by concrete shared paths. Think short, quiet on-lead circuit close to home rather than a big outing.

Lead rules

Dogs are welcome, but Wyndham City Council requires them on a lead and under effective control here. The reserve is not a designated off-leash area.

The walk

Paved paths loop around the sporting ovals, cricket practice nets and play spaces. The surface is smooth and even, which suits older dogs and slower walkers.

There is little tree cover along the loop, so it is fully exposed on sunny days. Carry water and bags, as you will need your own.

If your dog needs to stretch out, Presidents Park Dog Off Leash Area has a large fenced off-leash park with water taps and a longer walking circuit around it. The Diversion Weir Dog Off Leash Area by the Werribee River is another option.

When to go

Mornings and evenings beat the midday sun on this open loop. It suits a senior dog or a quick relief walk more than a young dog that needs to burn energy.
