Lake Weyba Foreshore

The Lake Weyba Foreshore walk runs beside the shallow lake at Weyba Downs, through paperbark forest and mangroves to a suspension bridge over Horseman Creek. Dogs are allowed on lead, but only on the designated trails.

Lead rules

Under Sunshine Coast Council's dog rules, dogs must stay on lead on the designated trails in the Lake Weyba network. They are not allowed on the north-south lake trail connection or in the bushland off the trails.

The rules changed in July 2026 and access here has been debated locally, so read the signs at the trailhead before you set off.

The walk

This is an out-and-back trail of about 3.3 kilometres each way from Charlotte Drive to the bridge. Surfaces are sandy track, dirt and uneven footpath, with plenty of paperbark shade.

There is free parking near the access points and bins by the car parks, but no toilets or taps.

Max: Do not let the dog drink from the lake or trail puddles. Carry fresh water instead.
