Wetherill Park Nature Reserve

Wetherill Park Nature Reserve on Victoria Street, also known locally as Wetherill Park District Park, is a paved walking circuit through native open woodland. Dogs walk on lead, and the flat path suits a relaxed daily loop.

Lead rules

Fairfield City Council requires dogs on a lead at all times in the reserve, which is not a designated off-leash area.

The walk

The circuit follows paved and compacted paths around the open green space and through Forest Red Gums, paperbarks and bottlebrushes. Galahs and rosellas are regulars.

It is flat and easy on joints, and prams manage it without trouble.

Water and shade

Shaded grass and shaded benches sit alongside the path. Toilets and bins are on site, but bring a bowl and water for the dog.

There is parking at both ends of the park, so you can start from either side.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, Fairfield Showground Fenced Dog Park has separate fenced zones, and Oliver Brown is nearby for a sweet finish.

Mornings and late afternoons are the pleasant times for a loop. It suits older dogs and owners after a gentle, predictable walk.
