Federation Park - Prime Minister's Circuit

The Prime Minister's Circuit is a 919-metre concrete loop around Federation Park in Vale View, just off Drayton Connection Road south-west of Toowoomba. It takes about 15 minutes, dogs walk it on lead, and there is never any mud to deal with.

Lead rules

Toowoomba Regional Council manages the park. Dogs must stay leashed on the circuit and throughout the grounds, because this is not an off-lead area.

The circuit

The loop is rated easy and fully concreted, so it is smooth and predictable underfoot. It suits older dogs, puppies and anyone with a pram.

It winds through open grassy parkland with shade trees, picnic spots and a family playground. The path itself is quite open, so the shade sits beside it rather than over it.

Water and facilities

There is drinking water on site, along with toilets, barbecues and a car park right at the park.

That makes it an easy stop for a leg-stretch on a longer drive.

Make a day of it

For a proper bushwalk, the lookouts of Mount Peel Bushland are close by. For off-lead time, head to Theiss Dog Park.

Walk it in the morning or late afternoon in summer, when the open concrete is cooler on paws.
