Tom Uren Park

Tom Uren Park links Karani Avenue through to Iris Street in Guildford West, a green local connector where dogs walk on a lead. It is a neighbourhood park, not a fenced dog park.

Leads and the rules

Cumberland City Council allows dogs here on a lead. It is not one of the council's designated off-leash areas, so keep your dog clipped on the whole way through.

The walk

Concrete and grass paths wrap around open turf, a playground, outdoor fitness equipment and sports fields used for soccer and netball.

Locals use it for short, low-stress walks, and mature trees along the edges give some shade depending on the time of day.

Water and parking

There is no permanent dog water station in the park, so carry a bottle and a bowl. Bins sit along the park boundaries and surrounding streets.

Street parking is easy on Karani Avenue and Iris Street, which also makes either end a good starting point.

Guildford West's Capulus is handy for a coffee before or after.

Who it suits

A good fit for a quick weekday walk, and for dogs that prefer somewhere quieter than a big regional oval.
