Kurung Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Kurung Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a compact, fully fenced off-leash enclosure on a quiet residential street in Holroyd, run by Cumberland City Council. The reason to make it your pick is the double-gate airlock entrance: a second door sits between you and the street, so a dog that slips a lead at the entry has not actually gone anywhere.

The dog setup

Dogs can be off-leash only inside the fenced perimeter. Leads stay on through the surrounding reserve and car park, owners must stay inside with their dogs and keep effective voice control the whole time, and cleanup is mandatory. The council supplies free waste bags and bins, and leaving droppings behind can attract an on-the-spot fine. Dangerous, menacing and restricted dogs are prohibited from the off-leash area.

Inside, the ground is grass built for running, crisscrossed by gravel and granite paths, with bench seating and natural rock to sit on. There is a dog water bubbler and shade from established trees. There are no floodlights, so this is a daylight park.

The vibe

This is a practical neighbourhood enclosure, not a regional destination, and the size reflects it: small enough that dogs meet each other quickly and owners generally intervene before play gets rough. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quiet; late afternoons and weekends bring more of the local regulars.

Getting there and parking

The park sits around the Fox Street and Robert Street corner of Holroyd NSW 2142, with street parking on the surrounding residential streets. The M4 cycleway runs nearby, which makes it a practical stop to combine a cycle or walk with an off-leash run.

Close by with the dogs
