Forest Crescent Reserve

Around the lake housing off Forest Lakes Drive in Thornlie, Forest Crescent Reserve links three urban lakes with paved paths, lawns and playgrounds. Locals know the area as Forest Lakes, and dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of Gosnells allows dogs here on a lead only. There is no off-lead section in this reserve.

The walk

A network of concrete and asphalt paths runs past the three lakes and their waterbirds, with open grass and mature trees in between. Forest Lakes Drive and Forest Crescent split the reserve into sections, so take care at the road crossings.

It is flat, easy underfoot and joined straight onto the surrounding streets, which makes it a low-impact daily walk.

What to bring

Trees give patchy shade. Bins are at the path entries, but water is not guaranteed on the route, so carry a bottle for the dog.

Park on the street along Forest Crescent or Expedition Drive.

Max: Waterbirds are the main attraction for a curious nose. Keep the lead short near the lake edges.

Make a day of it

Cherry Mug in Thornlie is close by for a coffee after the loop.

Early mornings keep the paths cool. The flat, paved loop suits older dogs and pups still learning lead manners.
