Cherry Mug

Cherry Mug is a compact coffee spot on Spring Road in Thornlie with a drive-through, a handful of alfresco tables out front, and a signature touch: a complimentary mini cookie with every cup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it a practical coffee stop on the south-eastern side of Perth rather than a destination venue.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the small alfresco tables directly outside the cafe, on lead. There is no water bowl program or dog treats confirmed, so bring your own. The one thing to watch: the drive-through lane runs close to the outdoor seating, so seat yourself on the side away from the traffic and keep a short lead on a dog that startles at cars.

The menu

Barista espresso covers flat whites through iced coffees, and the food list is short and honest: toasties, croissants, banana bread and muffins, with that mini cookie riding along with every drink. It is a morning operation - weekday trade runs 6am to 11.30am, and weekends 7.30am to 1.30pm, which includes Sundays. If you are in a hurry with the dog still in the car, the drive-through covers pick-ups.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Spring Road in Thornlie with easy on-site parking alongside the drive-through lane, plus street parking nearby. Access is quick from the surrounding Thornlie streets, and everything is at car level - no stairs or courtyards to negotiate with a lead in hand.

Close by with the dogs

Beckenham Dog Park is the nearest dedicated off-lead run in the area, a short drive north, and Dome Cafe Gosnells takes leashed dogs at its alfresco tables if you want a longer sit-down further down the line.
