The GreenWay

Six kilometres of green corridor link the Cooks River with Iron Cove, and The GreenWay runs right through Dulwich Hill on the way. It is sealed, wide and on lead, with a fenced off-lead park further north.

Lead rules

Inner West Council requires dogs to be on a lead at all times on the GreenWay paths and in its public spaces.

The one exception is the fenced GreenWay Dog Park in Lewisham West, where dogs can play off lead.

The walk

Most of it is a concrete and asphalt shared path about 3.5 metres wide, used by walkers and cyclists, with a few short on-street links.

You pass bushcare restoration sites, public art and parks, with the light rail line running alongside for much of the way.

Max: It is a busy cycling route. Keep the lead short and the dog on your side of the path.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Cafe The Beans Dulwich Hill.

When to go

The flat, sealed path suits older dogs and prams. Weekday mornings outside commuter hours are the calmest time to walk.
