Tarban Creek & Riverglade Reserve

Tarban Creek and Riverglade Reserves line the tidal banks of Tarban Creek between Gladesville and Hunters Hill, with two signed off-leash stretches and a grey-headed flying fox colony roosting in the mangroves.

Leads and the off-leash areas

Hunter's Hill Council allows dogs off lead in Riverglade Reserve from east of the concrete spillway between the two sediment ponds to the eastern end, near the path to Waruda Place.

In Tarban Creek Reserve, the off-leash area covers the east side from Gladesville Road to Manning Road. Everywhere else, dogs must be on a lead.

The walk

Paved and compacted paths shared with cyclists mix with grass tracks, passing playing fields, open lawn and mangrove edges. Mature trees shade much of the route.

Dogs can paddle at the creek edge at low tide. Taps are sparse, so carry water, and use the bins at the main entries.

Max: The paths are shared with cyclists, so keep your dog close on the on-lead sections.

When to go

Street parking is off Manning Road, Waruda Place and Joly Parade. Time it for low tide if your dog loves a splash.
