What visitors mention
The short version. Balloderry Hill is a landscaped rise within the Sydney Olympic Park parklands, walked mostly for its sunset views over the surrounding wetlands and Parramatta River. It is an on-leash stroll rather than a run, on paved and grassed paths.
Leash status. Dogs are welcome on-leash throughout this part of the parklands but must stay on the sealed paths and clear of the ponds, wetlands and wildlife habitats. There is no off-leash freedom here. The nearest fenced off-leash run sits behind the P5 car park on Hill Road, a short drive away, if your dog needs to stretch out properly.
The walk. Easy grade on shared paths, so expect cyclists and runners on the same routes. Keep the lead short on the shared sections. Bins are dotted through the parklands, but shade is patchy and it gets hot, so carry water.
Getting there. Access is via Hill Road with parking inside the park, which tightens on big event days. Olympic Park Station is the nearest rail with a walk in, and the Sydney Olympic Park ferry wharf is close by for a scenic approach.
When to go. Early mornings and weekdays are quietest. The obvious pick is late afternoon into sunset, when the view earns the trip and the shared paths thin out. Good for a calm on-leash wander, not for high-energy dogs who need to run.
