PLATE CAFE

Plate is the Korean-fusion brunch cafe of the Sydney Olympic Park town centre, on Murray Rose Avenue with ONA coffee in the cup and a menu that runs from shrimp burgers to acai bowls. It suits the precinct walker: an easy stop mid-loop with the dog on the heated outdoor seats in the cooler months.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is cosy and heated on cold days; inside is people only. Staff are accommodating, but bring a collapsible water bowl rather than counting on one being out. The Saturday-morning crush is real, so an early table is the calm option.

Worth knowing

The menu leans Asian-fusion brunch, with the Green Plate, shrimp burger, savoury french toast and bibimbap-style breakfasts alongside lighter bowls, and the tiramisu latte has its own following. Hours run 7am to 3:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 3pm on Saturdays, closed Sundays.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Shop 2/11 Murray Rose Avenue, a short walk from Olympic Park Station. Paid street parking runs along Murray Rose Avenue and the P5 car park on Hill Road is nearby, which is convenient because the off-leash dog area sits just behind it.

Close by with the dogs

The Sydney Olympic Park off-leash area behind P5 is the precinct's designated 24-hour run with fenced zones and a water bubbler. Everywhere else across Bicentennial Park and Wentworth Common stays on-lead, sealed paths only, and out of the Badu Mangroves and wetland zones. The Pierre De Coubertin Fenced Dog Park at Newington adds a second fenced option, and Abattoir Blues is the bigger, quirkier cafe if you are making a morning of it.

Pepsi: park at P5, let the dog run at the fenced area first, then walk back around for the outdoor table. Tired dog, hot coffee, zero footpath drama.
