The short version. This is Sydney Olympic Park's designated off-leash paddock, a large open grassy field behind the P5 car park on Hill Road. It runs 24/7 and backs onto mangroves and bushland, so it stays quiet compared with busier suburban parks.
The rules. Off-leash applies only inside the marked zone behind P5. On every other path and lawn in the precinct dogs must be leashed, and they are banned from Badu Mangroves, the Brickpit Ring Walk, Newington Armory and Narawang Wetland. Four dogs per person, and bag and bin the waste.
The catch. The field is only part-fenced and the lower end opens onto mangroves. Dogs with weak recall are better kept up the top, away from the mud.
Getting there. Park at P5 off Hill Road, which sits right at the field. Olympic Park Station is the nearest rail, then a short walk or bus. Shade and water are limited, so pack your own.
When to go. Mid-week late mornings and around sunset are the quiet windows. Best for confident, energetic dogs who want space to run.
