Abattoir Blues

The short version. Abattoir Blues is a licensed all-day diner on Herb Elliott Ave, set in a repurposed early-1900s abattoir building with a quiet, tucked-away feel in the middle of the precinct. Pets are explicitly welcome.

The dog setup. Dogs go in the outdoor dining area, which is a quieter courtyard-style space, often covered. Staff are friendly to dogs on arrival. If you are booking, ask for a dog-friendly table so you land in the right spot.

Known for. Hearty breakfasts and brunch, gourmet burgers and an all-day menu, with Sunday lunches that often feature live music. Open Mon-Fri 7am-3pm and weekends from 8am to early afternoon.

Getting there. Building C, 1 Herb Elliott Avenue. Paid parking at the Herb Elliott Avenue carpark and other Sydney Olympic Park Authority car parks, and it is walking distance from Olympic Park Station.

Nearby with the dogs. Cathy Freeman Park is close by for an on-leash walk before or after, and the wider parklands are dog-friendly on-leash. Note dogs are banned from the nearby Brickpit Ring Walk.
