Sydney Olympic Park

Sydney Olympic Park is its own suburb beside Homebush West, run by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, with flat sealed paths past Olympic venues, mangroves and wetlands. Dogs are welcome on a lead, there are fenced off-lead areas, and some habitats are off limits.

Where the lead comes off

Dogs can walk on-lead on the designated sealed paths and lawns. Off-lead play is kept to designated dog areas such as the P5 Dog Park, and a fenced park beside the Bicentennial Park West Playspace with two separate enclosures.

Dogs are banned from sensitive wildlife and wetland habitats, including the Badu Mangroves. The Authority publishes a dog map showing which areas are which.

The walk

Paths are flat and sealed, and many are shared with cyclists. Along the way you pass Olympic legacy venues, mangroves on the Parramatta River foreshore and wetlands full of birds.

Mature trees shade parts of the tracks, but stretches near the parkways are open. Bubblers with dog bowls and bins sit near the main play and off-lead areas.

Getting there

Timed parking is available in Bicentennial Park, but it fills quickly on weekends and major event days.

Hudson Park Fenced Dog Park in Strathfield is another off-lead option, and Loin King Cafe in Homebush West is handy for a bite afterwards.

When to go

Weekdays avoid the weekend and event-day parking crush. Keep the lead short on shared paths, where bikes come through fast.
