Tregarthen Reserve

Summertown's community ground, Tregarthen Reserve on Greenhill Road, is where locals take the dog for a lap past the tennis and netball courts under Adelaide Hills greenery.

Lead rules

Adelaide Hills Council rules keep dogs on lead in the reserve, especially around the courts, the picnic areas and the fenced playground.

The walk

A walk here is a loop of the grassed open areas and the surrounding bitumen and gravel tracks. There is no measured length, so it is a short, flexible outing.

Mature trees give partial shade along the edges. Off-street parking and public toilets are on site, but bring water for the dog.

Make a day of it

Head into Uraidla for Uraidla Republic Cafe Bakery and Brewery, or try Cherry Bomb Cafe at Ashton.

Mornings and late afternoons make the most of the tree shade. It suits a gentle stroll with an older dog.
