Stirling Civic Gardens

Stirling Civic Gardens, on Cedric Street in Stirling, is a manicured park with paved paths looping a lake and a war memorial with ponds. Dogs are welcome, but on lead at all times.

Lead rules

The City of Stirling lists the gardens as an on-leash exercise area, not an off-leash park. Many other Stirling parks allow off-lead play, so do not assume the same rule applies here.

The walk

The paved paths meander between green lawns, shady trees and the lake, where local birdlife gathers. It is a calm, steady walk that suits a pram or an older dog.

Max: Birds on the lake and families on the lawns mean a short lead near the water. It is a good place to practise calm walking.

Getting started

Parking is next to the park grounds. Bins line the main paths, and mature trees and gazebos give shade, but bring water for the dog.

Make a day of it

For a proper run, Dianella Fenced Dog Park is nearby. Mid-Century Cafe and Collectables in Yokine is a quirky coffee stop.

Morning or evening walks are best, with the shade and a quieter park.
