Holla

Holla is a neighbourhood cafe at 181 Scarborough Beach Road in Doubleview, on the main strip between Innaloo and the coast. It made Urban List's roundup of dog-friendly Perth cafes, and the drawcard for dog owners is simple: a footpath alfresco area out the front where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, right on the walking route between the beachside streets and the shops.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor alfresco tables directly on the Scarborough Beach Road footpath; the inside counter and seating are for people. It is a quick-turnover strip cafe rather than a linger-all-morning room, which suits a dog that is happy to settle while you knock back a coffee. Water bowls are typically available but not guaranteed, so bring your own travel bowl on a warm day and ask staff when you order.

The cabinet and the coffee

The kitchen leans on a rotating cabinet of homemade baking, and the daily muffins loaded with fresh fruit and berries are the signature order. Expect slices like vegan coconut, raspberry and coconut and rocky road, plus cupcakes on the sweet side. For something savoury there are fresh daily paninis, continental rolls, smoked salmon bagels, breakfast wraps, Mexican bowls and strawberry granola cups. The espresso program covers the standards alongside matcha, chai, fresh juices and smoothies, and the iced long black is a regular pick when the footpath is heating up.

Getting there and parking

Free parking runs directly out front on Scarborough Beach Road, but it is tight through the morning rush, so the side streets such as Gildercliffe Street are the reliable bet for a quick stop. Hours run 6:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on weekends, which makes it a walk-and-coffee venue rather than a dinner option. The cafe posts its daily bakes to Instagram if you want to check the cabinet before you go.

Close by with the dogs

Doubleview sits a short drive from several of Perth's better off-lead options. Head west down the hill for a swim at Peasholm Dog Beach or push up the coast to Trigg Dog Beach. For a fenced run, Abbett Park Reserve in Scarborough is close by, and Charles Riley Memorial Reserve at North Beach is another fenced option a few minutes north.
