Spring Lake

The Spring Lake Loop circles the lake at the heart of Springfield Lakes, roughly 3 kilometres of flat, sealed path with ducks and purple swamphens in the reeds. It is a lead-on walk the whole way round.

Lead rules

Ipswich City Council requires dogs to stay on a leash at all times on the lake path. Local walking groups, prams and wheelchairs all share the loop, so a short lead keeps things easy.

The loop

The path is almost entirely paved and flat, passing small billabongs and rocky streams. Turtles and waterbirds are regulars along the shoreline.

Bubblers are in Spring Lake Park off Burlington Terrace, and bins are spread through the park. Mature trees and sheltered seats along the shore give you places to pause.

Public parking is near Burlington Terrace and the nearby cafe strip.

Cafes sit close to the lake, which makes a coffee stop easy. Try Remedy Espresso Cafe or Moselle's Cafe + Restaurant.

When to go

On warm days, go early or late while the path is cooler. The flat, even surface suits older dogs, puppies still learning to walk nicely, and anyone with a pram.
