Prospect Creek Cycleway

The Prospect Creek Cycleway runs through Smithfield as part of a paved creek corridor of seven to eight kilometres through Fairfield. Dogs are welcome on lead, and the Smithfield section around Gipps Road is an easy place to join it.

Lead rules

Keep dogs on a lead the whole way. Off-lead running belongs in the enclosed council dog parks, not on this shared creek path.

The walk

The path is asphalt and concrete, wide enough for walkers, prams and bikes together. It follows the creek past remnant swamp oak forest and Aboriginal art markers.

It is a linear route, so walk out as far as you like and turn back. Bins sit near access points and park entries, and mature trees give decent shade in summer.

Max: Bikes share this path. Keep the lead short and your dog on your side of the path.

Try the loop at Rosford Street Reserve, then grab a coffee at Little Corner Cafe.

Flat and sealed, it suits older dogs and anyone who wants a long walk without hills.
