Skeleton Waterholes Creek Walk

Reed beds and wetland waterholes line the Skeleton Waterholes Creek Walk, a loop that crosses between Truganina and Tarneit. Wyndham City Council allows dogs on lead along the linear reserve, and the path is smooth sealed concrete.

The walk

The path follows the bends of the creek past thick reed grass, with frogs and plenty of birdlife around the waterholes. It feels far greener than the estates around it.

Volunteers, including the Friends of Skeleton Creek, keep planting along the banks. Much of that planting is still young, so shade is thin and parts of the loop sit in full sun.

Water and a break

Drinking water is up the ramp at Truganina Talliver Park, which also has undercover seating. Street parking is easy on the residential streets and parks that meet the trail.

Max: Frogs and waterbirds live in those reeds. Keep the lead short and your dog away from the water's edge.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run after the walk, try Forsyth Park Fenced Dog Park or the Truganina Enclosed Dog Park.

With so little shade, go early in summer and bring water for the dog. The smooth concrete makes it an easy loop for older dogs.
