Shepherds Bay Foreshore Park

Shepherds Bay Foreshore Park runs a smooth, flat path along the Parramatta River in Meadowbank, looking across the water to Rhodes. Dogs are welcome on lead, which is the rule on all of the City of Ryde foreshore paths.

Lead rules

The City of Ryde keeps off-lead play to its designated dog parks. On this path, your dog stays leashed and under effective control.

The walk

It is a wide concrete shared path, part of the Ryde Riverwalk network. The level surface is kind to older dogs and easy with a pram.

You share it with cyclists and other walkers, which makes it good lead-manners practice. Old maritime structures and river traffic keep things interesting.

Water and shade

Bubblers with dog bowls sit at intervals along the wider shared path network, and bins are regular. Shade is thin on the open waterfront, where the street trees are still young, so bring a bottle on warm days.

Street parking is limited around Bay Drive, with more near the Meadowbank ferry wharf.
