Sheldon Forest Walking Track

Sheldon Forest Walking Track drops through some of the last Blue Gum High Forest on the North Shore, from Warragal Road in Turramurra down to Troon Place in Pymble. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Ku-ring-gai Council requires dogs to be leashed and under control at all times on its bushwalking tracks. Dogs are also barred while a fox-baiting program is running in the reserve, so check the signs at the entry.

The walk

This is an unpaved bush track with dirt, rock steps, uneven ground and timber bridges. It follows Avondale Creek past small waterfalls and stands of Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest.

The canopy is dense, so it stays shaded even in summer. There is no water for dogs along the way and few bins, so carry both water and your bags out.

Max: Watch for fox-bait warning signs. If they are up, find another walk that day.

Getting started

Street parking is available near the entry points, including Warragal Road at the Turramurra end.

Make a day of it

Stop at The Pymble Pantry afterwards, or add East Gordon Park for a gentler stroll.

Shady and quiet, it suits calm dogs on hot days. The steps make it harder going for seniors.
