East Gordon Park

East Gordon Park, home of Darnley Oval on Warandoo Street, is a secluded bushland corner of Gordon where sports fields meet sandstone outcrops. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Ku-ring-gai Council requires dogs on lead in its parks and sports grounds unless they are in a designated off-leash area, and this park is not one. Dogs are not allowed in the children's play spaces.

The walk

Paths run around the sports fields and playground, on a mix of asphalt, grass and natural ground. The bush edges give it a quiet, tucked-away feel, and climbers use the nearby sandstone.

Water and shade

Mature bushland and canopy trees shade the edges and the area near the oval and playground. There are bins on site, but bring a water bowl for the dog.

The playground and flying fox draw local families, so dogs that are wary of children may prefer quieter hours. The shade makes it a fair summer option.
