Salt Pan Creek Track

Salt Pan Creek Track loops through tidal wetlands and mangroves in Riverwood on flat paths and timber boardwalks. It is an easy circuit, and dogs stay on a lead.

Lead rules

Leads are required on the walking tracks and boardwalks. The creek corridor is looked after by the City of Canterbury Bankstown and Georges River Council, depending on which bank you are on.

The walk

Paved paths join raised boardwalks over the wetlands, with ducks, ponds and patches of mangrove along the way. There are no steep sections, so prams, bikes and dogs share it easily.

Shade is mixed, with open paths and some bush canopy. Dogs cannot really reach the creek, but there is a water refill station at the Salt Pan Creek Wetlands on Washington Avenue.

Getting started

Free parking is at Stuart Street Reserve and the Washington Avenue car park. The wetland entry also has bins, barbecues, picnic tables and sheltered seats.

Pair it with

Burn off extra energy at Riverwood Park Fenced Dog Park, or add a lap of Rotary Park.

Flat and smooth, it suits older dogs and short legs. In summer, go early before the open paths heat up.
