Safety Bay Foreshore

Turquoise water, Norfolk Island pines and a view out to Penguin Island line the Safety Bay foreshore, where a sealed shared path carries walkers along the coast. Dogs stay on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of Rockingham requires dogs on a lead along the shared path and in the parks beside it. Some nearby beach sections are off limits to dogs, so read the signs before stepping onto the sand.

The walk

The foreshore path is part of the longer Foreshore Flow Trail network, well-kept concrete and asphalt that suits any dog. Norfolk Island pines and other trees shade parts of the route.

Along the way

Bins sit regularly along the path, and toilets, benches and barbecues are at the main stops. Bring water and a bowl for the dog.

Much of the appeal is the outlook, across the water toward Penguin Island and the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.

Pepsi: The sunsets out toward the islands are the best part. Pack water, because a long stroll here goes by fast.

Make a day of it

Pengo's Cafe in Shoalwater is close for coffee, and the Foreshore Flow Trail covers the longer coastal route.

Late afternoon brings the sunsets. The flat, sealed path suits older dogs and prams alike.
