Romaine Reserve

Romaine Reserve in Burnie follows Romaine Creek through native and exotic bushland to a dam pond full of waterfowl. Dogs can come, but they must stay on lead and on the formed paths.

Lead rules

Burnie City Council keeps dogs leashed and on the footpaths throughout. Dogs are not allowed off the formal paths, or in the area between the dam wall and the southern end of the pond.

Max: The pond birds are protected here. Keep to the path and keep the lead short on the stretch past the dam.

The walk

The track mixes wide gravel paths, boardwalk sections and newly upgraded concrete. It doubles as a fitness track and winds past fern groves and the creek.

Tall white gums and stringybarks shade most of the way, which makes it an easy, comfortable walk for older dogs.

Getting started

On-site parking sits by the main entrance, near toilets and a playground. Bins are at the picnic and entry areas, and you should bring water for the dog.

For off-lead time, View Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Montello is close. Secret Buddha Café in Park Grove makes a good coffee stop.

The shade makes it a good pick on warm days, and a quiet one on a weekday.
