View Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

View Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Montello, on the edge of Burnie, is one of the better-equipped enclosed dog parks in north-west Tasmania. The off-leash enclosure is a fully fenced 100 by 100 metre grassed area, part of the wider Stoney Creek Reserve precinct, and it comes with agility tunnels, a dog splash pool, drinking stations and shaded seating for handlers. Genuine space is the headline: a big dog can actually run here.

The dog setup

Entry runs through a double-gated system, so there is no mad dash for the street when a new dog arrives. Owners stay inside the fence with their dogs and keep them under voice control. Poo bags are usually stocked on site with bins nearby, but the pickup obligation is yours. Inside you will find grass, agility tunnels, a water trough and a dedicated splash pool for hot days, plus shaded benches. Once you step outside the enclosure into the wider reserve and its walking tracks, normal leash and control rules apply.

The wider reserve

The surrounding precinct makes it worth a longer stop. The reserve includes walking tracks through creek-side ground, Burnie's disc golf course, the Send-it Case-it pump track with mountain bike trails, the Jeremy White Basketball Court and Lions Club shelters. It is a multi-use park, so expect bikes and families as well as dogs on busier days.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits at View Road, Montello, about 113 View Road for the main facilities, a short drive from central Burnie with parking near the car park area. Public bus routes run along View Road if you are not driving, and the park is open around the clock.

While you're out there

Burnie's dog friendly cafes are five to ten minutes away by car, with Liv Eat Healthy Eating Burnie an easy stop on the way back into town.
