Riverhills Recreation Hub

At the end of Sumners Road in Newcomb Park, the Riverhills Recreation Hub is a launch spot for kayaks and paddleboards on the Brisbane River. For dog owners it is a riverside park with paved paths and wide water views, walked on a lead.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council requires dogs on a leash in its parks unless an area is signed as off-leash, and the hub is not.

The walk

Concrete and asphalt paths link through the park and past the launch area, with green lawns beside the river. The shared paths continue along the riverside toward Seventeen Mile Rocks if you want a longer outing.

Mature trees shade parts of the reserve, but the open paved sections get full sun. Bins sit near the park entries, and it is worth bringing water for your dog.

Max: Paddlers carry boards to the water here. Keep your dog close around the launch area.

Getting started

There is parking at the end of Sumners Road beside the park.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, try Wolston Creek Bushland Reserve Fenced Dog Park or Tigris Street Park Fenced Dog Park.

Go early or late in summer, when the open paved paths are cooler underfoot.
