Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve

Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve, on the corner of Cedar Road and Moreton Avenue, pairs flat paved paths with a well set up fenced dog park.

Leads and the off-lead area

Ipswich City Council requires dogs on lead on the walking paths and around the parkland. The fenced off-leash dog park is reached from Willow Road.

Inside the fence there are separate enclosures for large dogs and for small or timid ones, plus agility equipment to work through.

The walk

The paths are smooth, paved and level, winding past open grass, sports fields and playgrounds. Birdlife gathers at the park edges.

It is an easy loop for older dogs and anyone pushing a pram.

Water and shade

The dog park has drinking water for dogs and people, bins with bags, and covered seats for owners. Shade trees are few on the open grass, so it heats up in summer.

Parking is free on site, and the enclosures are open 24 hours with lights at night.

Pepsi: The water bowls at the dog park are the perfect halfway stop after a lap of the paths.

In the warmer months, go in the evening. The loop is cooler by then and the enclosures are lit.
