Punchbowl Park

Punchbowl Park on Viola Street pairs flat paved paths with shade and filtered water, which is most of what you want from a suburban lead walk.

Lead rules

The City of Canterbury Bankstown requires dogs to be on a lead and under effective control. Keep at least 10 metres from the children's play equipment.

The walk

Concrete paths run in and around the park, past grassy sports fields, free tennis courts and outdoor fitness equipment. Mature trees and shade shelters line parts of the route.

Filtered water stations are in the park, and bins are spread around the tracks and picnic areas. Toilets are on site but are sometimes locked outside booked sport.

Getting there

There is on-site and street parking, though it can get tight at peak sporting and evening times.

Make a day of it

Craig Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park is the suburb's fenced off-lead space, complete with agility gear, and Moxon Cafe is nearby for a coffee.

When to go

A weekday morning dodges the evening parking squeeze. The flat paths suit older dogs and short legs.
