Point Malcolm Reserve

On Military Road in Semaphore Park, Point Malcolm Reserve pairs open grass where dogs can run off lead with boardwalks through the coastal dunes and wide views of the sea.

Leads and the off-lead area

City of Charles Sturt treats the open reserve turf as off lead for dogs under effective control. Put the lead back on, 2 metres or shorter, within 5 metres of any playground and whenever organised sport is being played.

On footpaths and the paths beyond the open turf, dogs must be on lead too.

The walk

Concrete paths and timber boardwalk sections wind through dune vegetation with the ocean alongside. It is a short, easy outing rather than a long hike.

Water and shade

There are drinking fountains, bins and toilets, plus plenty of shady trees, picnic shelters and shade sails over the playground. Parking is on site off Military Road.

Pair it with

Semapaw Park Fenced Dog Park is close by for a fenced run, and Swedish Tarts in Semaphore makes a good stop afterwards.

When to go

Check for organised sport before unclipping, since the lead rule applies while games are on. The reserve also hosts the council's annual Doggy Day on the Green, which suits social dogs.
