Peppermint Grove Foreshore

The Peppermint Grove Foreshore follows the Swan River around Freshwater Bay, past manicured lawns, historic jetties and native peppermint trees. The deciding fact is the northern stretch, where dogs can run off the lead at any hour.

Leads and the off-lead area

The Shire of Peppermint Grove has declared the northern foreshore, Reserve 17113, an off-lead exercise area at all times. It runs from north of Leake Street to the Shire boundary at Devil's Elbow.

Everywhere else, including all other paths and public areas, dogs must be on a lead. Pick up after your dog, as the fine is $200.

The walk

Paved concrete and exposed aggregate paths link the riverside parks, with benches and plenty of mature shade trees. The natural bushland section in the north adds canopy cover over the path.

Public toilets sit near the grassed parkland, and parking is along The Esplanade and the side streets.

Pepsi: The off-lead stretch meets the river, so pack a towel for the ride home.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Freshwaters, or head into Mosman Park for Phyl & Tom.

When to go

Mornings and evenings are breezy and calm on the bay. Bring water for the dog on longer walks.
