Patawalonga Walking Loop Track

The Patawalonga Walking Loop Track circles the lake and marina behind Glenelg, running through Glenelg and Glenelg North. It is flat, mostly paved and on lead, with a fair chance of spotting cormorants or even dolphins in the estuary.

Lead rules

City of Holdfast Bay requires dogs to be on a lead on public footpaths and reserves unless a spot is signed otherwise. Keep your dog under effective control the whole way round.

The walk

Sealed concrete paths make up most of the loop, with some gravel and grassed sections. Grassy banks line the water, and the east side has mature trees for shade.

Much of the path itself is in full sun. There are bubblers along the connected reserves, but bring a bottle and bowl on warm days.

Getting started

Street parking is easy on Adelphi Terrace and near Wigley and Colley Reserves at the southern end of the loop. Bins sit at the main entry points.

Make a day of it

Glenelg's cafes are close, and Feed Jetty Road or Cibo Espresso both make an easy stop after a lap.

When to go

Go early or late in summer, since shade on the path is patchy. The level surface suits older dogs and owners with prams.
